Vermont green slate switch plates were used to match our vermont slate countertop and back splash. The match is perfect and enhances the effect of the slate countertop. However, not all the switch plates were uniform in thickness that were shipped and border on flimsy (no quality control) and as a consequence do not evenly mate with the back splash. In addition any switch plate that contained a duplex receptacle required additional recessing (by dremel) to assure that the receptacle was recessed properly.
I put 2 plates up in a hallway and am going to order more for a living room. natural material is subtle and attractive. however, remember that stone can absorb oils, causing discoloration.
It seemed expensive at first, it is just a switchplate. But we are glad we bought it- it is unique but not gaudy. We are delighted with it.
